KNOX—An attorney who has been suspended from practice and is facing criminal charges for allegedly menacing his wife finally surrendered to an Albany County sheriff’s investigator Saturday afternoon after a four hour standoff with police at his Knox residence.
Jonathan Francis, 38, who was allegedly under the influence of drugs, had called the Monroe County suicide hotline Saturday morning saying he would kill himself and anyone with flashing lights on their cars. The crisis center in turn called police, concerned for his welfare.
Police said that Francis, who is currently under investigation by the state Committee on Professional Standards, had just been released from the Albany County Jail after posting bail. He had been arrested for menacing his wife and criminal contempt for allegedly violating an order of protection.
Francis was persuaded to surrender after mid-afternoon. The only weapon found in the house was a pellet gun. He was taken. 5-12-07
