Jury Acquits Developer Of Sexual Abuse

SUFFOLK COUNTY—A Queens real estate developer has been convicted of endangering the welfare of a child by subjecting a 12-year-old female victim to sexual contact.

 

A Suffolk County jury acquitted Michael Rich, 71, of four charges of sexual abuse.  The jury deliberated for two days before returning the verdict Thursday afternoon. 

 

Rich is free on $10,000 cash bail.  He will be sentenced by Judge C. Randall Hinrichs on Sept. 26.

 

Endangering the welfare of a child is a class “A” misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of one year in jail.  7-31-08
