QUEENSBURY—A man in a motorized wheelchair was injured Wednesday night after being struck by a car on Aviation Road at the I-87 Exit 18 northbound off ramp.

Arthur Passino 42, of Hudson Falls, was operating his 2002 Chevrolet pick up truck at the off ramp waiting for the traffic signal to change, according to police.  Charles Thomas was in his motorized wheelchair waiting for the crosswalk signal to change, to proceed West on Aviation Road. Police said when the turn arrow changed green for Passino to proceed, Passino struck Thomas as his wheelchair entered the crosswalk without having the right of way.

Thomas was transported to Glens Falls Hospital by West Glens Falls EMS for minor injuries.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by West Glens Falls EMS and Queensbury Central Fire Co. The accident was investigated by Patrol Officer W. St. John and was assisted by Patrol Officer G. Dunn.   9-3-08
