PINELLAS COUNTY—Are you certifiably nuts if you dare to publicly criticize Pinellas state attorney Bernie McCabe?
Has the First Amendment been totally suspended in Pinellas County?
There are multiple controversies ongoing in Pinellas County and it seems that the common denominator in most of them is Bernie McCabe, Pinellas-Pasco state attorney.
Don’t you dare criticize McCabe or you’ll get arrested and Baker Acted. Just ask Greg Pound, the write-in candidate for Pinellas County Sheriff who is opposing incumbent sheriff Jim Coats.
McCabe holds a grudge and acts childishly and vindictively if he doesn’t get his own way, utilizes his position to get even with state employees in personal disputes.
Just ask Moses Jordan.
Jordan was the second-in-command of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) in Tampa Bay until his retirement in January.
But his retirement wasn’t exactly voluntary. It stemmed from a turf war between the FDLE and the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. But the real issue was that Jordon publicly took on Bernie McCabe, embarrassed him, disrespected him in front of law enforcement and other officials—and Bernie McCabe retaliated.
Pound, 52, was arrested Thursday while he was attending a GOP convention-watch party hosted by Florida Rep. C.W. Young at the Hilton on Lake Carillon Parkway in St. Petersburg.
