Posted on Monday, 6 of October , 2008 at 2:53 pm

WHITE PLAINS—A Westchester County jury has convicted a disbarred attorney in the 2006 murder of his wife.

Carlos Perez-Olivo, 60, shot his wife, Peggy, 55, in the back of the head as she slept in the front passenger seat about 11 p.m. on Nov. 18, 2006.  The couple was returning from an evening in New York City.  Perez-Olivo was driving the family car northbound on Route 100 in the Town of New Castle en route to their home in Chappaqua.  At the time, the couple lived three doors down from Bill and Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Perez-Olivo has been convicted of second degree murder and second degree. criminal possession of a weapon. He could be sentenced to life in prison.

At approximately 11:11 p.m. the evening of the woman’s death, a 911 cell phone call was received by the New York State Police from a male – later identified as Perez-Olivo – stating his wife was shot, and that he also sustained a gunshot wound.

While on the phone, Perez-Olivo continued driving, arriving at Northern Westchester Hospital.

His wife died there the next day. He remained hospitalized with a non-life threatening gun shot wound.

”Mr. Perez-Olivo meticulously planned and carried out the murder of his wife, then concocted a story to cover up his actions and believed that he would not be held accountable,” said District Attorney Janet DiFiore after the verdict.  “This defendant thought that he could – one final time – spin the events of that night nearly two years ago to his advantage, but the facts of the case told a different story and the jury saw through the deception.”

Sentencing will be on Dec. 2.  Perez-Olivo faces a maximum of 25 years to life in state prison.   10-6-08
