Lake George Man Charged With DWI, Leaving Scene

LAKE GEORGE—A Lake George man is facing drunk driving charges after police say he left the scene of an accident early Friday morning.
Police said Michael J. Vittengl, 52, of Lake George, while operating a black 2003 Cadillac Escalade, struck construction barricades and a guide rail on Canada St., near the Northway Exit 22 overpass, and left the scene.
Sheriff’s patrol officer Michael Anuszewski located Vittengl’s vehicle, a black 2003 Cadillac Escalade, on Lower Amherst St. near Duffy’s Bar. Vittengl was unconscious.
Vittengl was arrested for having a blood alcohol content of .16%, double the state threshold for intoxication.
In addition to DWI, he has been charged with driving with a blood alcohol content greater than .08 %, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, and operating to the right of white hazard markings.
He was issued appearance tickets to appear in Lake George Town Court at a later date. 10-16-09
