SUFFOLK COUNTY—The trial of two men indicted last year for murdering Joseph Odierno of Miller Place, and Jairo Santos of Washington Heights after a drug deal gone bad will begin Tuesday at 2 p.m. before State Supreme Court Justice Robert W. Doyle in Riverhead.

Suffolk homicide detectives arrested Darren Lynch of Middle Village, Queens, and James R. Wall, of Coram, on Aug. 5, 2008.

Lynch, 29, admitted to detectives to killing both Odierno, 35, and Santos, 22, a student at C.W. Post, on July 17, 2008 and that he dismembered both victims in his Queens apartment, disposing of their bodies in a Coram dump and behind his mother’s house at on Summercress Lane.

Lynch claimed Santos and Odierno and a group of other men sold him fake cocaine in a drug deal.

A grand jury indicted Lynch on first and second degree murder charges; codefendant James Wall, 30, is charged with two counts of second degree murder. Both men also face kidnapping charges.

A third defendant, Lynch’s live-in girlfriend, Leah Reynolds, 22, pleaded guilty in May to weapons possession and hindering prosecution charges and is expected to testify at trial. Reynolds hid the guns Lynch used to kill the victims.

During the execution of a search warrant at Lynch’s Middle Village residence, detectives seized heroin and cocaine, a bulletproof vest and several illegal weapons. 10-26-09
