GLENS FALLS—If you’re arrested for driving while intoxicated, police frown upon you placing anything in your mouth prior to the breathalyzer test.
A Glens Falls man is not only facing felony DWI charges but is accused of tampering with evidence after police say that he tried to eat drugs he had in his possession while be was at the police station.
Glens Falls Police had stopped Billy W. Mott, 49, of School St., Friday morning about 1:18 a.m. after police say he drove a pickup truck over a curb at the Glen St. and Sherman Ave. intersection.
After police took him into custody and took him to the Glens Falls police station, Mott allegedly took something from one of his pockets and began chewing it. Police forced him to spit out the substance which they say was crack cocaine.
Mott has been charged with DWI after registering a blood alcohol content of 0.17%, more than double the legal threshold of 0.08%. He has also been charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana and several traffic tickets. 10-30-09
