Massena Man Killed In Head On Crash

MASSENA—A Massena man has died after the vehicle he was operating was struck head on by a tractor trailer.
State Police in Massena said that Ty M. Kennedy, 42, died as a resulted of injuries sustained in a fatal motor vehicle accident which occurred on County Route 38 in the town of Brasher Thursday morning.
Police said their initial nvestigation revealed that Kennedy was traveling eastbound on County Route 38 when he passed an uninvolved eastbound vehicle. Kennedy returned to the eastbound lane and then drifted back into the westbound lane for unknown reasons, where he was struck head on by a tractor trailer combination being operated by Travis M. Perkins of Canton. The tractor trailer was registered to Trimm Trucking, of Winthrop.
St Lawrence County Coroner June Wood ordered an autopsy to be conducted at Massena Memorial Hospital to determine the cause of death.
The New York State Police Troop B Collision Reconstruction Unit and the Troop B Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit responded to the scene to assist. The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
The New York State Police was also assisted at the scene by members of the St Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, Brasher- Winthrop Fire Department and Tri-Town Rescue. 10-30-09
