Philip R. Roberts

CHESTERTOWN – Philip R. Roberts, 75, died unexpectedly at his home Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009.
Born in Granville he was the son of the late William and Ruth (Morey) Roberts.
Mr. Roberts worked for J.C. Penny in Ohio, Florida and Connecticut in the drapery department for many years. He was currently employed at the Sagamore Hotel in Bolton Landing as a driver.
Mr. Roberts was a Korean War veteran serving in the U.S. Navy as a radioman 3rd class on the USS Edward H. Allen.
His hobbies included traveling, the outdoors, listing to brass bands and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Kermit Roberts, Merritt “Bud” Roberts and William “Bob” Roberts, two sisters, Martha Roberts and Alice Polzello, and one stepgranddaughter, Lisa Rossetti.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine (Nemeth) Roberts of Chestertown; two sons, Richard Roberts and his companion, Liz Duguay, of Montclair, N.J. and Glenn (Jill) Roberts of Canton; four stepsons: Chris (Darla) Rossetti of San Francisco, Tony (Robyn) Rossetti of Florida, Jeff (Peggy) Rossetti of Florida, Jon (Raven) Rossetti of Denver, Colo.; one stepdaughter, Susan Hendrickson, of Pennsylvania; one sister, Agnes “Pat” Parkhurst of Melbourne, Fla.; four grandchildren: Hannah, Noah, Daniel and Gabriel Roberts; nine stepgrandchildren, Christopher (Ciann) Rossetti, Sorrel (Matt) Vinson, Peter (Becky) Hendrickson, Erica , Alexandria, Skylar, Nikko, Sarah, Nina Rossetti; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Aidan Rossetti and Arianna Charlebois.
Relatives and friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Barton-McDermott Funeral Home, Inc., 9 Pine St., Chestertown.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville.
