Tour Bus Crashes On Northway

LAKE GEORGE—Police and rescue personnel are at the scene of a tour bus accident on the southbound lane of the Adirondack Northway near the twin bridges between Exits 22 and 23.
According to police reports, the operator of a Canadian tour bus apparently lost control of the bus and crashed through the center guide rail just south of the Route 9 overpass about 8:45 a.m. Friday. Police responding to the scene reported numerous guide rails down. The bus, carrying approximately 40 passengers, crossed the median and crashed through a guide rail on the northbound side of the Northway, coming to rest in the northbound lanes.
Both the northbound and southbound lanes of the Northway were restricted to a single lane of travel.
Numerous ambulances were dispatched to the scene but preliminary reports indicate there do not appear to be any serious injuries, with dispatchers saying that the passengers would likely sign off on transport to the hospital.
A school bus from the Lake George Central School was dispatched to the scene to remove passengers and transport them to an undisclosed location. 11-13-09
