LAKE GEORGE—A Warrensburg woman has been charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving after a Warren County sheriff’s officer said the car she was operating nearly struck his patrol car head on Friday afternoon.
Patrol officer Jeremy Coon said he was southbound on Route 9 in the town of Lake George near Maltbie Chevrolet about 3:15 p.m. when a 2005 Honda CRV traveling northbound crossed a double solid line, nearly striking his vehicle, causing him to drive completely off the roadway to avoid a collision.
In addition to being charged with DWI, Megan M. Scherer, 32, of Schroon River Rd. was also charged with endangering the welfare of a child as her four-year-old daughter was in the vehicle with her. She was also ticketed for failing to keep right and having an open container in the vehicle.
She was being held in police lockup Friday night pending arraignment in Lake George Town Court. 11-20-09
