Cops: Queensbury Man Sexually Abused 8-Year-Old

QUEENSBURY—A 64-year-old Queensbury man is behind bars, charged with sexually abusing an 8-year-old girl.

Lewis SmithLewis C. Smith of 58 Massachusetts Ave. has been charged with first degree sexual abuse, a felony.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office says in October, they received a complaint from the mother of an 8-year-old girl who reported that her daughter may have been sexually abused by Smith at his residence. Smith and the girl were acquainted with each other.

Smith was arraigned in Queensbury Town Court and sent to the Warren County Correctional Facility in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond. He is due to reappear in Queensbury Court on Monday.

The investigation was conducted by Investigators Doug David and Maurice Aldrich with assistance of Child Protective Agencies in Warren and Washington Counties.  11-22-09
