SHARON SPRINGS—Two individuals who fled New York State with Gerry King the day after the murder of his father George King have been arrested and are charged with being accomplices in the homicide.

State Police said that Joleen Henderson, 36, of Carlisle Rd., Spreakers, Gerry King’s girlfriend, and her mother, Alice Williams, 72, of Beechwood Rd., Sharon Springs, left the Capital District with Henderson’s 13-year-old son and King on Nov. 16, the day after George King was murdered.
They traveled to Massachusetts the first day and then on to Connecticut. Troopers had developed information on King and were looking for him when they discovered that King had fled the state with Henderson and Williams in Williams’ vehicle.
Police agencies throughout New England were notified, and troopers from the Connecticut State Police observed Williams’ van the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 17. Troopers detained King, Henderson, and Williams, and secured vital evidence they say relates to the homicide investigation. Four investigators from the New York State Police traveled to the Connecticut State Police barracks at Troop B in North Canaan where King, Henderson and Williams were interviewed.
King, 37, waived extradition, was transported back to New York and charged with the murder of his father. He is lodged in the Schoharie County Jail.
Henderson and Williams were released to return to New York with Henderson’s son. Troopers continued to follow leads and develop information that led them to charge both Henderson and Williams in connection with the homicide.
Henderson has been charged with first degree hindering prosecution, tampering of physical evidence, fourth degree conspiracy and endangering the welfare of a child.
Williams was charged with first degree hindering prosecution.
Police say Henderson conspired to destroy physical evidence, and Williams rendered transportation to King which he used to leave New York State.
Both subjects were arraigned in the Town of Sharon before Town Justice Evelyn Falsarella. Williams was released on her own recognizance, and Henderson was remanded to the Schoharie County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail and $50,000 bond.
The investigation into the death of George King, 63, of Staleyville Road in the Town of Sharon. is still on-going, police said. An autopsy conducted at Albany Medical Center indicated that King died of blunt force trauma and investigators have ruled his death a homicide.
