New Schroon Hotel: Fact Or Fantasy?

SCHROON LAKE—Six weeks ago, with a lot of hoopla, the Empire State Development Corporation and Gov. David Paterson announced that the Schroon Revitalization Group, LLC-Schroon Lake Hospitality, had been awarded a $975,000 grant to be used in the initial development of an 81-room resort in Schroon Lake for year-round access to the Adirondacks and Lake Champlain.

This “development” was touted as a “cornerstone in the revitalization of the Town of Schroon Lake”.

So how come it’s such a big secret?

Perhaps even a bigger question is who are the principals of this project that are operating as “the Schroon Revitalization Group, LLC-Schroon Lake Hospitality” and why is the state awarding nearly a million dollars to non-existent entities.

According to the database of the Department of State, there is no active registration for either the “Schroon Revitalization Group LLC” or “Schroon Lake Hospitality”.
