ORANGE CITY, FLA---A Christmas tree exploded and a Volusia County couple were seriously injured as they were taking it down Monday.
The tree, extremely dry after weeks of display, apparently came too close to a candle and ignited.
The man, 23, was in critical condition and was airlifted to the Orlando Regional Medical Center. Officials have not released his name or condition.
Jennifer Jackson, 22, nine months pregnant, reportedly suffered extensive burns to her face. Their young son was not injured.
Neighbors spotted flames and heard the screams. They extinguished the fire with a garden hose before firemen arrived and dragged the couple from the house to the front lawn. 1-9-06
