Aide Charged With Dripping Urine On Nursing Home Resident

WHEATON, ILL---In a disturbing account of alleged abuse of a nursing home resident, a nursing assistant at the Elmhurst Extended Care Center in Chicago has been charged with dripping urine on the face of an 83-year-old man and then throwing a dirty diaper at his head when he asked for help.

Jamika Rush, 24, has been charged with felony abuse and faces up to five years in prison. She is free on $1,000 bail and will reappear in court Feb. 27.

She had worked at the nursing home about four months and was fired immediately after the Dec. 21 incident. Police said that she apparently became angry when the resident asked her to help keep him from falling after she had changed his bed. 1-21-06
