ALBANY---An city police officer has pleaded guilty to fifth degree insurance fraud, a misdemeanor, for filing a false insurance claim.
Sean Haley dropped his cell phone in a toilet and then tried to get his insurance company to replace the phone, using an incident number from a phony police report, claiming it had been stolen. After Haley filed the phony report, a co-worker reported the claim to police supervisors.
City court judge Thomas Keefe fined Haley $160.
Haley remains suspended from the Albany Police Department while an internal investigation continues. 1-27-06
