CULVER CITY, CA---A super hero he’s not.
A man wearing a mask of crimefighter Spider Man walked into a store in Culver City Tuesday and was caught on tape stealing over $11,000 worth of rare comic books.
When the man walked into Dream World Comic Books wearing the mask, employees didn’t pay much attention to him. After browsing for a bit, the man brandished a hammer and smashed a glass display case where the store’s most valuable comics were being displayed.
The Spidey imposter escaped with the comic in which Spider Man first appeared, Amazing Fantasy #15 as well as Fantastic Four #1 and X-Men #1, each valued at about $2,500.
Spidey fled on foot, leaving behind his bicycle which police are examining in hopes of finding fingerprints which will lead them to the thief. 2-23-06
