College Admissions, Aid Topics For Online Chat

ALBANY--Students and parents can learn about college admissions and financial aid at a free, interactive online chat event on Tuesday, March 21 at 7 p.m.

The event is hosted by Mapping Your Future, a public service Web site sponsored by the New York State Higher Education Services Corp. (HESC).

The chat will help students and parents navigate through the maze of career, college, and financial aid information -- all from the privacy and convenience of a personal computer.

College admissions experts from across the country will be online to answer questions about: selecting a school; preparing academically for college; applying to school; standardized tests, such as the ACT and SAT; considering different types of schools; student loan options, and financial aid and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Anyone with Internet access can join in the chat event by visiting www.mapping-your-future.org on the Web at the time of the chat and following the link to the chat at top of the home page. Simple instructions will guide them on how to join the event.

Mapping Your Future is a national collaborative, public-service project of the college financial aid industry that combines the expertise of the industry to provide free college, career, financial aid, and financial literacy services for students, families, and schools. 3-06-06
