LETTERS TO THE EDITOR - Selfish Man

Editor, The North Country Gazette:

The March 27th commentary "In Death Did Schiavo Part" was excellent and truthfully told the story of the tragic death of Terri Schindler Schiavo. This disabled woman who was not terminally ill but dependant on others to live died a death that in our country we would not allow an animal to endure. Michael Shiavo and his pro-death attorney both had something to gain at Terri's expense.

Now Michael in his disgusting book hopes to paint himself as a caring, loving father and husband but you can't have it both ways. Caring and loving means you put others first and as the article articulates so well Michael was a selfish man who grew tired of caring for his wife, whose death is questionable and wanted only what was best for him.

The death of Terri Schindler Schiavo will always be remembered as a sad day for America. As Roe vs. Wade marked the beginning of this slippery slope towards devaluing human life Terri's death is a reminder of how far we have come. 3-29-06
