Open Letter To Gov. Jeb Bush:
Let's keep this simple.
Everett Rice is perfect for the top FDLE job. (Florida Department of Law Enforcement)
Rice, sheriff of a major metropolitan big department operation, it's one of the best in the country. That's the truth. http://www.northcountrygazette.org/articles/042306RiceRace.html
But he has other qualifications that make him especially well suited for your purposes. You were THE THUMB that made certain no state police or state regulatory agency would answer Schindler family pleas for help in saving a life; you made certain that Terri Schindler Schiavo's scream for her life would fall on official deaf ears. It was your office cooperating with Bernie McCabe, summarily slamming shut a just opened FDLE felony criminal probe on a variety of fronts -- from alleged abuse of the disabled woman to issues of alleged fraud.
Rice, he has his own issues involving employment of Michael Schiavo in the county jail. The sheriff took no action on alleged false statements made in his employment application, and in 2004 allowing the use of sheriff department assets in the filming of a reelection television commercial for George Greer. Laws allegedly broken, given a pass by Everett Rice. There's more, but we'll stop there.
It's exactly "those and other problems" that make Rice very well suited for the FDLE top spot. Day to day, enforcing everyday laws against everyday ordinary stupid people who mess up, Rice can do that, he's proven it. But the politically well connected who typically enjoy special above the law exemptions, have a conversation with Rice about that. Ask how invested he is in making certain that no legal or political embarrassment comes to any of the cast of judicial, or police, or political officials involved in the judicially sanctioned murder of Terri Schindler Schiavo -- including you and at least one of your lawyers.
Now, if you really want to enjoy long term political protection -- pray for a Crist governorship. Crist, too, was dedicated to making certain Terri would not be afforded the protection of constitutions or law. Crist would certainly keep Rice, his old and politically dependable friend, at FDLE. Crist, Rice, McCabe, Greer -- a bunch of others -- they are all attached at the political hip. It is therefore reasonable to speculate, a Crist/Rice team would give you 4 or 8 or more years political cover.
If, by some miracle, God visits you in a dream demanding -- "Jeb, make things morally and spiritually right with Terri and her mother Mary," might I suggest you appoint from out of state an incorruptible Elliot Ness type with instructions to clean up official and institutional corruption involved in the murder of Terri Schindler Schiavo?
