Volunteer Firefighter Caught In Pedophile Sting

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON---A retired DPW worker and volunteer firefighter has been charged with attempted dissemination of indecent materials to a minor in the first degree, a felony.

David Usher, 61, of Hastings-on-Hudson has been arraigned in White Plains City Court where bail was set at $5,000 cash or bond. He is scheduled to reappear in court Friday, May 26.

The arrest was the result of an undercover Internet pedophile sting operation conducted by the High Technology Crimes Bureau of the Westchester County District Attorney's office.

Prosecutors said that between May 8 and May, Usher engaged in a number of "chat" conversations and emails with whom he thought was a 15-year old-boy. In actuality he was conversing with an investigator from the High Technology Crime Bureau. Specific sexual acts were allegedly discussed.

Usher was arrested when he arrived at a previously designated meeting location. 5-25-06
