Insurance Employee Admits To Ripping Off Firm, Clients

MINEOLA--A former employee of the insurance firm Geo. V. Bullen and Son. Inc. of Great Neck has admitted stealing over $668,000 from the firm and its clients.

Stuart Hartmeyer, 44, pleaded guilty to second degree grand larceny, a class C felony, and first degree scheme to defraud, a class E felony in Nassau County Court Friday.

According to Nassau County district attorney Kathleen Rice, Hartmeyer forged refund checks and falsified records and bank deposit slips to cover this theft.

Hartmeyer, of Locust Valley, is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 19 by Judge Edward Maron. Prosecutors have recommended that he receive two to six years in state prison. 7-17-06
