Schiavo Attorney Felos On Talk Circuit

Death will be the main course.

Euthanasia attorney George Felos, the Dunedin, Fla. Attorney for Michael Schiavo in his decade-long quest to end the life of his disabled wife, will be the keynote speaker in Toronto, Canada, on Sept. 7 before the World Federation of Right to Die Societies.

The program for the event calls Felos "a nationally recognized expert in right-to-die cases, and lawyer for Terri Schiavo".

Wrong. He wasn't the lawyer for Terri Schiavo but he drained the trust fund of the money that was earmarked for her rehabilitation. Instead of using the money as court ordered for therapy for Terri, Michael Schiavo instead retained George Felos to help him end Terri's life.

Felos is a member of the board of directors of Project Grace in Clearwater, Fla., Guidelines for Resuscitation And Care at End-of-Life.

Felos, with the assistance of Pinellas County Court Judge George Greer who ordered the brain injured woman's death, used Terri and her money to propel himself into the national spotlight and to advocate euthanasia and assisted suicide.

And Greer has become part of the traveling road show, having appeared at various symposiums around the country in support of the right to die movement.

Even though Felos reportedly received over a half million dollars from Terri's trust fund and reportedly received funding from the ACLU and other sources, according to the records at the office of the Pinellas County Clerk of the Courts, Felos submitted yet another legal bill against Terri's estate after her death.

According to the last accounting made public, before Greer sealed all records, for the period of March 1998 when he was first hired to effect Terri's death until September, 2001, Felos was reportedly paid $307,188, Felos is now reportedly on the lecture circuit talking about the case for a reported fee of $7,500 per appearance and is also reportedly writing a book on the Schiavo case, making it apparent he perpetuated the case for financial gain and self promotion.

Dying with Dignity, a Canadian society concerned with the quality of dying, is promoting Felos' appearance in September and is said to be Canada's largest choice in dying organization with some 3,000 members.

Among the topics will be "Nudging the Law---How to Move Legalized Aid-in-Dying Forward".
http://www.worldrtd.net/news/federation/?id=821 Mary Labyak, executive director of Hospice of Florida Suncoast which owns Woodside Park Hospice where Terri Schiavo resided the last five years of her life, is a member of Project Grace's Executive Committee.

Dr. James Avery, former medical director for Woodside Park Hospice in Pinellas Park at the time when Terri Schiavo was secretively admitted in April 2000 when Felos was a member and former chairman of the board of directors of Hospice of Florida Suncoast, is a member of Project Grace's advisory board.

Terri died at age 41 on March 31, 2005, after a contentious court battle which lasted over 10 years between her parents, Mary and Bob Schindler Sr. who struggled to save her life; and Michael Schiavo, her estranged husband and guardian who was determined to end her life with the assistance of Felos whom he had originally retained in 1995. 8-19-06
