A
former Los Angeles television producer has entered into an agreement
with New York publisher Dutton Publishing Co. to write a book
chronicling Michael Schiavo’s side of the Terri Schindler-Schiavo
case.
The
280-page book, “Terri: the Truth”, is expected to be on the
bookshelves in March just before the first anniversary of the disabled
woman’s death.
The final manuscript is due to be presented to the publisher by the end of November.
According
to a report in the Sarasota Herald Tribune, sympathetic Michael Hirsch
says he believes that there was an unfair “tar and
feathering” of Schiavo.
Hirsch,
62 now a resident of Punta Gorda, Florida, is a Vietnam veteran and
author of three books about the military. He says that the order by
Gov. Jeb Bush to investigate whether Schiavo delayed in calling 911
after his wife mysteriously collapsed on Feb. 25, 1990, caused him to
call Schiavo’s attorney, George Felos, and propose a book about
Michael Schiavo’s side of the story.
Terri
Schiavo died on March 31 after her husband had fought her parents in
the courts for over 15 years, and in particular since 1998 in the court
of Pinellas County probate court judge George Greer for an order to
removing Terri’s nutrition and hydration which would cause her
death.
Schiavo
removed her feeding tube on March 18 on Greer’s order and the
brain damaged woman died 13 days later. Following an autopsy which
dispelled the long-time myths that she had suffered a heart attack as
the result of a potassium imbalance caused by bulimia, Gov. Bush had
ordered an investigation due to numerous discrepancies in
Schiavo’s story.
Pinellas
County state attorney Bernie McCabe who had consistently rebuked
efforts to open an investigation into the alleged domestic abuse case
also refused to open an investigation at the Governor’s request.
The
mainstream media engaged in the reporting of false information in the
case, presenting a false and distorted view of the facts.
According
to the Tribune report, Hirsch’s book will confront the public
officials and advocates that Schiavo thinks unfairly portrayed him,
including President Bush and members of Congress. 9-18-05
