QUEENSBURY---A New York City police officer has been stripped of his job after he admitted to e-mailing photographs of himself, nude from the waist down and wearing only a police department shirt, to a 16-year-old girl from Queensbury that he had met in an Internet chat room.
James Coppola, 31, of Port Jefferson Station, pleaded guilty in Warren County Court to felony dissemination of indecent material. He was sentenced to three months in Warren County Jail and five years probation. He was also ordered to submit a DNA sample for the state database and to register as a sex offender.
Coppola had made no attempt to meet the girl and there had been no physical contact with her. 9-20-06
