State Police have arrested Greene County Sheriff Richard Hussey on charges of driving while intoxicated.
Police received a report of an erratic driver about 1 a.m. Sunday and stopped Hussey's vehicle in Catskill.
Hussey, a former state trooper and corrections officer, refused to submit to a Breathalyzer test resulting in an automatic suspension of his driver's license.
The sheriff was processed at the Catskill State Police barracks and arraigned in Catskill Town Court by town justice Peter Margolius who released him on his own recognizance pending a return date Thursday.
Hussey has been Greene County Sheriff since elected in 1999. His current term expires on Dec. 31, 2007. 9-26-05
