Editor, The North Country Gazette:
I write this to citizens of Essex County.
If you have met Julie Garcia, you have met a very fine lady who has the
highest of aspirations for Essex County in her candidacy for district
attorney. She grew up in our county and then worked hard to gain a fine
education as well as intense and tough prosecutorial experience in the
Suffolk and Rensselaer Counties before returning home. High officials in
those counties have provided testimony concerning her high standards and
great abilities in dealing with the very worst of society while treating
honorable citizens with the greatest of respect.
This cannot be said of the other candidate for Essex County district attorney. While
Ms. Whitson speaks with smoothness and appears to listen attentively, her
statements show utter disregard for human standards, ethical treatment of
fellow professionals or even simple honesty. Speak with area lawyers and
you will find she inflates her accomplishments of service 200 to 300% to
make herself appear beyond equal while also denying she has in fact been
beaten in our courts by the honorable lady, Julie Garcia. Furthermore, if
there is considerable publicity in a court case that the present DA's staff
has "farmed out" prosecution to a New York City lawyer. In contrast, our
Julie Garcia has gained considerable experience in that area of the state
and brings it with her to work for us as Essex County district attorney.
One of her greatest goals is to bring down the DA's budget to a much more
economical and reasonable level for this remote area. Furthermore, every
citizen, every human conflict and every crime will be treated fairly and fully within the established law of the land.
Julie Garcia always portrays the highest of standards in human caring and
legal concerns, professional appearance and aspirations for the entire
population of Essex County. We must elect her to the office of district
attorney for the benefit of Essex County as part of the judicial team of
Sheriff Hommes and Judge Meyers. They want her as part of the greatest
team to be chosen in many years - and so should any honorable citizen of
Essex County.
Thank you for your noble consideration of such fine citizens among us.
