ALBANY--Thomas X. Geisel, president of Key Bank's Capital Region since August, 2002, has been promoted to the newly-created position of president of the Northeast Region for Key Community Bank.
Geisel will continue to be based in Albany, Northeast Region headquarters. He will be responsible for retail banking, business banking and commercial banking for Key's Community Bank throughout New York, Vermont and Maine. He will be accountable for the Northeast Region's revenue, expense management, profit and credit quality, as well as growing the client base in all business units and determining the region's strategic direction. The presidents of the Northeast Region's seven districts will report directly to Geisel.
Geisel joined KeyBank in 1999, as a managing director of the McDonald investments unit.
Key said a new president for the Albany region will be named shortly.
Geisel is the estranged husband of Sandra "Beth" Geisel, 42, the former English teacher at Christian Brothers Academy, a Colonie Catholic prep school, who was charged with having sex with a 16-year-old student.
She pleaded guilty last month to a single charge of felony third degree rape in a plea deal and is expected to receive a sentence of six months in jail when she returns to court in November for sentencing. She has been in the Albany County jail since August following her arrest on driving while intoxicated.
The Geisels are the parents of four children, one of whom is a CBA student. 10-20-05
