BAYSHORE---A former practical nurse employed at the A. Holly Patterson Nursing Home in Uniondale, a 889-bed facility, has been charged with allegedly defrauding the Nassau County workers' compensation benefits program of $37,370.
Prosecutors said that Beatrice Goodman, 43, of 1782 Heckscher Ave., Bayshore was a licensed practical nurse at the nursing home who injured herself while lifting on a patient on April 15, 1993. She subsequently left county employment.
From Jan. 1, 2000 through Jan. 16, 2004, the claimant's earnings at a health care firm exceeded the maximum allowable amount. She was then requested by the Workers Compensation Bureau at a hearing in December of 2004 to submit W-2's and income tax returns. She filed false sworn income questionnaires in 2001 and 2002 for the calendar years 2000 and 2001 with the Nassau County Attorney's Office and allegedly understated her income for both years", according to the Nassau County district attorney's office.
Goodman has been charged with grand larceny in the third degree, a Class D felony, punishable by up to seven years in prison. She was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead. 10-25-05
