SANDUSKY, OHIO---When ya gotta go, ya gotta go.
The Erie County Sheriff's Office chased a woman to her home early Tuesday morning, breaking into her bathroom and arresting her as she was seated on the toilet.
For a yet unstated reason, sheriff's officers began a car pursuit of Kathy F. Davis, 44, of Norwalk shortly after midnight on Tuesday. Davis failed to stop and continued to drive even after the Ohio Highway Patrol joined the chase and laid down stop sticks.
A sheriff's spokesman said the chase could not have been at high speeds due to the chase being on winding roads.
Davis drove to a trailer park where she lived and entered a mobile home, locking herself in the bathroom.
Police entered the mobile home and, according to the police report, ordered Davis to come out of the bathroom. "She stated she was going poop", the report says. Lt. Barton Manley of the sheriff's department wrote that they told Davis that if she did not come out of the bathroom immediately that they would force the door. When she didn't comply, they broke open the door and found her seated on the toilet.
Police claim to have found a small amount of crack cocaine and a crack pipe in the bathroom. Two girls, aged 10 and 13, were turned over to police.
Davis faces charges of third degree felony fleeing, fifth degree obstructing official business and first degree misdemeanor driving with a suspended license.
She was being held in the Erie County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bond. 10-25-06
