MALONE--A police officer with the Malone Village Police Department who has been on paid suspension was arrested Wednesday and charged with second degree criminal trespass, official misconduct and obstruction of governmental administration in regard to his alleged involvement with a 17-year-old female runaway.
Scott M. Mulverhill, 38, of North Bangor, a 15-year veteran of the police department, was first suspended for two weeks in August "for previous departmental charges" and was then suspended again in September while an internal investigation into alleged violations of departmental regulations was being conducted. Police chief Ronald Reyome had refused at that time to say why Mulverhill had been suspended.
Mulverhill is the former union representative for the department.
Each of the charges is a Class A misdemeanor and if convicted, Mulverhill could face up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine on each charge. He was released on his own recognizance following arraignment.
According to court records, Mulverhill was arrested in November, 2002 in a deer jacking incident along with his brother. He was charged with taking deer by artificial means and discharging a firearm in the Town of Stockholm in St. Lawrence County. He accepted a civil compromise in which he avoided having a misdemeanor conviction on his record and paid $1,000. He was also fined $300 on the firearms charge. 10-27-05
