AMSTERDAM---An Amsterdam high school football coach has been charged with driving while intoxicated, driving with more than three times the legal limit of alcohol.
Police found Patrick Liverio, 45, unresponsive in a vehicle outside a home after his vehicle reportedly struck a mailbox Saturday night about 8:20 p.m.
He refused a pre-screening test but blew a 0.21 BAC when tested at the police station.
Liverio is a physical education teacher at Amsterdam and has coached the high school football team to five consecutive Section II championships and this year, lead the team to the state Class A title.
He has been issued an appearance ticket for city court. 11-27-06
