ST. PETERSBURG, FLA---Robert Schindler Sr., father of the late Terri Schindler-Schiavo, has been transferred to a rehabilitation center is now undergoing therapy after suffering several mild strokes.
Bob Sr. was hospitalized two weeks ago after being stricken at home. He has incurred some impairment to his right side and slurred speech but experienced no deficiency in cognitive function or memory. His condition has been stabilized and he is on the road to recovery but has some work ahead.
Bobby Schindler says his father is in good spirits and has been gratified and bolstered by the outpouring of supportive messages and prayers the family has received.
His wife, Mary, has been with him nearly constantly as well as his daughter, Suzanne Vitadamo and son, Bobby.
Terri Schiavo died on March 31, 2005, after nearly a decade-long court battle between the Schindler family and Terri's husband Michael Schiavo. Schiavo had fought the Schindlers for nearly 10 years, seeking to remove their disabled daughter's feeding tube which occurred on March 18, 2005. She died 13 days later.
