MURRAY, KY--- The first rule in buying drugs is don't tell the cops.
A middle school teacher in Murray, Kentucky learned that the hard way and besides feeling pretty stupid is now facing an array of criminal charges as well as being suspended with pay from her job.
Ann Greenfield, 34, trying to make arrangements to buy some pot thought she was text messaging a drug dealer.
Instead she was sending messages to a state trooper.
When Kentucky state trooper Trevor Pervine started getting messages on his cell phone from a person wanting to buy marijuana, he first thought it was a joke but then he realized it wasn't and set up a meeting with Greenfield.
When she arrived at the rendezvous spot, she found the cop and other law enforcement officers waiting for her.
She's facing charges of conspiracy to traffic in controlled substances within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to a statement posted on the website of the Murray Independent School District by Sherry Purdom, public information officer, Greenfield has been suspended with pay pending results of the investigation into charges filed against her. "After reviewing findings, the MISD Superintendent will determine further disciplinary action. A substitute teacher will cover this teacher's classroom until further notice". 2-24-07
