SCOTIA---A Scotia police officer has been placed on unpaid suspension after being charged with having sexual contact with a 16-year-old boy.

Douglas Wilkinson, 23, of Saratoga Road, Glenville, is free on $30,000 bail after being arraigned on charges of committing a criminal sexual act, a felony; and endangering the welfare of a minor, a misdemeanor.

Wilkinson has been with the department since January 2006 and was working as a full-time patrol officer.

Glenville police opened an investigation into the matter about two weeks ago after another teenager filed an unrelated harassment complaint against someone who was at Wilkinson's home when the alleged sexual contact occurred. 4-23-07
