FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA---A judge who had a role in the Anna Nicole Smith case has filed a written plea of not guilty after being cited for smoking marijuana in a city park last month.
Broward Circuit Court Judge Lawrence Korda, 49, wasn't arrested but was issued an appearance ticket for April 26 after three officers who were exercising in the park said they saw Korda smoking a joint while he was sitting under a tree. The officers said they didn't know who Korda was. They field tested the joint and determined it was marijuana.
Korda, a family court judge had handled a part of the paternity case involving Smith's 6-month-old daughter, Dannielynn, ruling that a Bahamian court had jurisdiction over the custody of the infant. The argument over Smith's body and where she would be buried was decided by Circuit Judge Larry Seidlin who cried when rendering decisions in the case.
Korda has been on a temporary paid leave of absence after being ticketed. 4-27-07
